Landowner are based in Holyoke, Massachusetts, and it's is known for its minimalist post-punk sound, often described as "clean-toned punk" or "weak d-beat". The project is led by Dan Shaw , a landscape architect whose compositions reflect geometric precision and complex social themes. Landowner's music is characterized by repetitive and driving rhythms, angular riffs, and lyrics that dissect the ills of modernity, such as rampant consumerism, bureaucracy, environmental decline, and the failures of global systems. Their "clean" (undistorted) approach within an aggressive punk context is their most distinctive trademark.
