The group has included a wide range of other musicians that appear on the band’s studio albums and live shows. EODM’s current touring lineup includes the ever-present Hughes, Leah Bluestein on drums, Scott Shiflett on guitar and Dustin Douglas on bass Despite their band name, Eagles of Death Metal is not a death metal band and is intended to be humorous. With a sound that’s a combination of “bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned Heat vocals,” and a frontman in Hughes who is known for his over-the-top stage histrionics and evangelistic interaction with his fans, the band’s live performances are a sight to be seen.
