About
Geese is an American rock band formed in 2016 in Brooklyn, New York. The group consists of Cameron Winter on vocals, keyboards, and guitar, Emily Green on guitar, Dominic DiGesu on bass, and Max Bassin on drums. For live performances, the band is accompanied by keyboardist Sam Revaz. The band has released four studio albums: "A Beautiful Memory" (2018), "Projector" (2021), "3D Country" (2023), and "Getting Killed" (2025). Geese was formed in 2016 while its members were students at Brooklyn Friends School and Little Red School House in New York City. During their high school years, they rehearsed and recorded music in the basement of Bassin's home in Fort Greene. The first song they performed together was "Mind Mischief" by Tame Impala. The band's name originated from guitarist Emily Green's nickname "Goose". In 2018, the band independently released its debut EP, followed later that year by the album "A Beautiful Memory". A second EP, "Bottomless Pink Lagoon", was released in 2019. These early releases were later removed from streaming platforms. The group initially planned to disband after graduating in 2020, as several members had been accepted to institutions including Oberlin College and Berklee College of Music. However, self-produced demos recorded in 2020 attracted attention from multiple record labels, leading the band to sign with Partisan Records. Geese released its label debut and second album, "Projector", on October 29, 2021. The album was recorded by the band in Bassin's basement between late 2019 and early 2020 and later mixed by Dan Carey. The lead single "Disco" premiered on Apple Music 1 in June 2021. The band's third studio album, "3D Country", was released on June 23, 2023, and produced by James Ford. Four singles preceded the release: "Cowboy Nudes", "3D Country", "Mysterious Love", and "I See Myself". An accompanying EP, "4D Country", featuring additional material from the same recording sessions, was released on October 13, 2023. In December 2023, guitarist Foster Hudson departed the band to focus on academic pursuits, and the group continued as a quartet. In December 2024, Cameron Winter released his debut solo album, "Heavy Metal", which received critical attention and increased the visibility of both the artist and the band. In June 2025, Geese announced a North American headlining tour. In July 2025, the band announced its fourth studio album, "Getting Killed", and released the single "Taxes". Additional singles included "Trinidad" and "100 Horses". The album was released on September 26, 2025, and received widespread critical acclaim, appearing on multiple year-end lists and being named the best album of 2025 by several publications. On October 1, 2025, the band performed "Taxes" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". Reports in 2025 indicated that the band had been recording material for a potential fifth studio album with producer Kenny Beats. However, statements from band members later characterized these sessions as informal and not necessarily indicative of a completed project. In January 2026, Geese performed "Au Pays du Cocaine" and "Trinidad" on "Saturday Night Live". In April 2026, an article in Wired discussed claims regarding promotional strategies associated with the band and its members, including alleged connections to a public relations firm and the use of coordinated online campaigns. The report drew on earlier commentary by musician Eliza McLamb and referenced descriptions of "narrative campaigns" involving social media activity. The article prompted discussion about the extent and significance of such practices within the music industry. McLamb later clarified that she did not consider Geese to be a "psy-op" and stated that her original commentary was not intended as a critical exposé.
