Birdsong, is a 20 minute recording that was originally used as a temporary filler on the UK DAB radio platform in January2008. It has since proved to be a smash hit attracting half a million listeners, more than the speech-only channel it replaced, OneWord. The recording was made by Digital One chief executive Quentin Howard, who taped birds in his garden to provide sound effects for an amateur dramatics play.
